![]() There also seems to be a brighter purple area in the lower right hand corner of the screen where the bulb is located much of the time. Of coarse this changes from channel to channel and shot to shot including commercials. I noticed after playing with all the settings for a few hours that it would not adjust back to as great looking a picture as I was used to with the long lasting second bulb and there is a slight purple haze in white areas of programming that I can't get rid of and the blacks are blacker too, a little too black washing out some detail. After the TV warmed up the screen was quite a bit brighter and I had to go in and change all the adjustments to get it looking at it's best again. I vacuumed out the bulb chamber of any accumulated dust, also the fan side as well, then installed the new bulb and turned on the TV resetting the change bulb soon warning that had been aluminated for the last two years ( I had been waiting for the second bulb to pop like the 1st one did but that never happened, tech advice said it was arcing, replace it). So, while changing out the third bulb last week I bought from (doing all the research to make sure it was a true phillips bulb/ Sony XL-5200 replacement and cage) and looking for all the hallmarks that confirmed it. I had previously bought a third bulb to have ready if the second one went out at around another 2 year interval which it didn't, lasting instead another 2 years. The only reason I changed it again was that it was said by technical help line to be arcing and that I should change it out. Well, as it turns out the second bulb lasted 4 years and I figured 15,000 hrs on that 2nd bulb in that time. ![]() I did, the TV started shutting off a week ago twice in one night and I didn't know why, so I looked it up in the manual and it said that Sony recommends changing out the bulb every 8800 hours. It worked great, at the time I switched out to the 2nd bulb I changed the setting to power saver mode to see if I could get more life out of the 2nd bulb. The original bulb it came with blew out just 3 months after the 2 year bulb warranty ran out, so I shopped around and got another one locally for $250.00, an OE Sony Bulb. Hi, I have a Sony Bravia KDS60A3000 SXRD and have owned it for 6 years now.
